Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a technology used to perform various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes, including photorejuvenation (e.g. the treatment of skin pigmentation, solar lentigos, sun spots, sun damage, melasma) as well as to alleviate dermatologic diseases such as acne and rosacea San Juan Capistrano .

It is a virtually painless procedure that can be done in as little as 10 minutes, depending on the part of the body being treated.

It can be used on the face, chest, back, abdomen, arms and legs.

It not only treats dark skin spots but also rejuvenates and tightens the skin.

Our medical grade IPL device has the technology which allows  Dr. Stanitsas to customize the filters and energy setting specifically for your skin type and treatment goals.   Our device can treat all skin types, Fitzpatrick I-VI.  Treatments are individualized but usually require several treatments to achieve the best results.  Some patients require only 1 or 2 treatments, and others may require a set of 4-6.  Your specific treatment plan will be created by Dr. Stanitsas during your consultation.

Typically, after the treatment, your skin will be red and warm.  The redness may last for several days. Around the second or third day, the dark spots that were treated will develop a "coffee ground" type crust that will flake off after several days.  Keep this in mind when scheduling your treatment.  If you have a special event coming up, schedule your IPL at least 5 days before the event to allow for recovery time.

Many patients see immediate improvement after treatment.  Often times it may take a week after the treatment for you will see a significant reduction in the dark spots and healthier looking skin.

Sun screen is a must, especially after the treatment.

IPL is a very popular treatment due to it being virtually painless, quick and providing very noticeable results.
